It was great to wander around Split (Croatia) for a few days. Staying in "old town" - actually inside the castle walls as constructed by a Roman emperor - plus our very helpful host were memorable; we ate and saw a lot, but a big sandwich of STREET FOOD (which basically meant "eat out on the street" rather than being particularly food-cart-like; it was a brick and mortar storefront inside of the same castle walls) was noteworthy, and the art museum was pretty cool, both figuratively and literally nice to get out of the hot sun.
While we spent 3 days in Split, we didn't travel a whole lot except on foot. We took a couple of loops around town, to an overlook and some beaches, checking out the western edge of town (with the high point) and to the eastern edge (with beaches, strip malls, and sprawl)
Lori shows her love of small dishes, especially ones that talk about love!
But, most of what was cool about split was just walking around old town, finding little tunnels and nooks and historical things all over. We read some signs, ate some fancy chocolate from a store that was open super late, got fruits at a farmer's market and aperol spritzes (for me) everywhere.
